"Reflections"

As I look back on 2007, with both of my daughters hitting big birthdays, 18 and 21, I cannot help but reflect on far more than just this past year. As a mother, I have no real regrets, which is a tremendous blessing. The real hurt as a mother that I recall, was the threat that the government was over me while I raised my children. This was because they were home schooled. Here in New York, we have awful home school laws.

My daughters are both in college now. My oldest will graduate this spring and go on to graduate school. Jessica, my oldest, has won awards and scholarships as a biochemistry major, the biggest of them being the Barry Goldwater Undergraduate ScholarshipJessica's  most recent award is the "Outstanding Achievement" award.

When I think about how much time was taken up filling out needless paperwork to hand in to a public school district that we never used, and how much I worried that someone was going to take my children, I just shake my head.

Our founding fathers would roll over in their graves if they knew how little freedom parents have today. They would be shocked to see how much our government governs over parents.  It is my goal as a right-wing Christian conservative writer/activist to fight to restore the rights of the parent in this country. My job training up my children is done, but my job in fighting for their God-given rights in this country, has just begun.
