The Fiscal Cliff Facade Stand-Off
Both parties want the other to be at fault.

After having listened to Obama's post election speech on the economy, I realized two obvious things. I will never get those fifteen minutes of my life back, and there was nothing new said.

Neither was there anything new in what House Speaker John Boehner said earlier.

Both parties want the other to be at fault.

The republicans will not budge on increasing taxes on the wealthy, while the democrats are not about to take any "STUFF" away from their voter-base. Hence both parties have excuses to not do a thing. --After all the 2016 campaign season has officially begun.

Both parties will most likely get what they secretively want. And that is to end the Bush tax cuts and to end the social security tax break.

And by keeping up this fiscal cliff facade stand-off, both parties will be able to continue to blame the other party for not budging, while both will get what they want and be able to pretend to have tried to get otherwise.
