3 - Last Day People
And 1st John
1 This know also, that in the last days perilous
times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own
selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to
parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection,
trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of
those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of
pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of
godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn
We all at some point come across a person who by
so much account seems like a believer in Jesus Christ, seems like
the person loves God, but that same person clearly loves things that
go against God. One church
that I know of has a young man heading up the teens in the
church whose facebook page showed that he was fine with
homosexuality and even homosexual marriage. Another church in our
local area has a man who heads up a bible study who thinks it is
okay for unmarried men and women to give each other massages and
thinks that only sexually abused women would not be okay with a man
who is not her husband giving her a massage.
Both of these
men have said things that sound like they love the Lord. As
scripture says, they have a "form of godliness." But when it comes
right down to it, they are clearly not of God. When it comes down to
it, they are denying the power of God. Both of these men talk
circles around the leaders of their church. They are fully aware of
what they are doing and know how to manipulate their church. These
cases are not accidents. They are not mistakes. These men know what
they are doing.
Scripture tells us to turn away from such
people. These men are lovers of pleasures, instead of lovers of God.
They are without natural affection, among other things. Their form
of godliness is not true godliness. It is one of their making. They
are excellent manipulators.
18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye
have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many
antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been
of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went
out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of
Eventually these type of people will leave the church.
And I am speaking of THE church, not a particular building.
Eventually they walk away from Christianity. They are the people who
will swear they used to be a Christian, but that
Christianity does not love enough, it does not include
everyone. And when they do walk away from the church, don't believe
them that they used to be one of us. Scripture shows us that if
they had been of us, they would have remained one of us. Scripture
shows that they leave so that we can know they were never one of us
to begin with. The wicked walk this earth, many antichrists. Be
ware and don't trust man over God. God's word is truth and
