Five
accusations of infidelity against Herman Cain, and I am still
defending him. People are asking me what I will say if it turns out
he is guilty of one or more of the accusations. To that I say the
following:
We live in a country where a person is innocent
until proven guilty, a country where the burden of proof is on the
accuser. We do not live in a country where we hang a man after
a trial of public opinion, nor do our country's laws allow a
person's name to be defamed without proof.
We are a
people that would rather error on the side of innocence, than to
wrongly convict an innocent person. Yes, it looks bad that five
women have come out against Herman Cain, but none of them have had
solid proof, and all have had shady backgrounds and could gain off
of this.
Our prisons are filled with
criminals. Numbers do not prove a thing. If anything, one
would think that with all of these accusations there would be some
hard evidence somewhere, and more than phone calls. We live in the
day of people having a phone, literally glued to an ear. If that is
proof of infidelity, then I am in serous trouble, as are many of
you. If it turns out that I am wrong about Herman Cain, I will not
regret having defended him, while the evidence favored him and no
good evidence said otherwise.
