Sunday
before last I had my youngest daughter in the emergency room with
flu-like systems. Something was causing her heart to skip a few
beats a minute.
For Becky, it turned out to be, she was
dehydrating. Once they had her pumped up with fluids, her heart was
fine and we were on our way. We simply did not realize that when
medical people say, "Drink plenty of fluids," that they mean to
drink far more than usual. This is because your cells are under
great stress during an illness.
While in the ER, I asked the
doctor if Becky should be checked for the H1N1 flu virus. To
that the doctor replied, "No." He continued with saying, "The H1N1
flu virus is no more serious than the regular seasonal flu." He then
let me know that the reason the elderly are not as susceptible to
the H1N1 flu virus, is because many of them already had it in the
early 1900s and are immune to it. Ya, so much for the
virus being new!
While at the
government's website today, click here,
I read up on the topic. Sure enough, though the website
refers to the H1N1 virus being new, it states: "...about
one-third of adults older than 60 may have antibodies against this
virus."
There
is only one way that those adults that are older than 60 would have
obtained those antibodies. That's by exposure to the virus at some
time in their lives. --By the way, this is why my household does not
get any flu vaccine.
Last week, I received a letter home
from my youngest daughter's college that spoke on the H1N1 flu
virus. Above is a scanned picture of a section of the letter that
stated: "Federal, state and local health officials say the current
H1N1 Flu is no more serious than the seasonal flu. Illness from the
2009 virus has been mild to moderate so far, with most people
recovering without the need for medical treatment."
If you
read the government's website, you will see the same thing. It
really is no more serious than the regular seasonal flu. Yet, here
in New York, health care workers are being threatened with their
jobs, to take the H1N1 flu vaccine or get fired. Click Here --And up in Massachusetts, the entire
state is being threatened with a possible police state, breaking
into homes and forcing the vaccine on children and locking up adults
that won't take it. Click Here
What I find very interesting is that it is the
liberals, who are going over-board on this. And it is the liberals
who play down the threat of the spread of AIDs. Go
