1) The Washington Times Excerpt: First
lady Michelle Obama took some criticism for clutching a $5,950
luxury Italian leather alligator purse while meeting last week with
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and his wife, Svetlana.
But
according to the White House, the initial reports on the purse's
price were wrong because it was a cheaper knockoff of the high-end
version. Her aides said Mrs. Obama's patent purse was a more
affordable $875 - though in a down economy, that price still
produces a decent dose of sticker shock.
Mrs.
Obama is often credited for her frugality because she mixes her
designer duds with clothing from the mass-retailer J.Crew, although
those items are still pricey by many standards. When she volunteered
at a D.C. food bank earlier this year she donned a J. Crew cardigan
that retailed for $188 with designer Lanvin sneakers priced at
$540.
DJMS - Commentary: And here, I thought she found all that crud at a garage
sale! --So, umm, where are those animal rights people, about her
alligator purse? --Jeepers, can we get some help over
here?

Michelle
Obama's ancestry can be traced back to slaves, many of whom were
launched into subjugation from this West African nation. It doesn't
matter that the specifics of that part of her family lineage are
uncertain or that Ghana may not actually figure in it. Such fine
details don't matter to the people here. "Michelle is from Ghana
because her ancestors were from Ghana" -- of this Helena Botchey,
owner of Helen Herbal and Family Planning Shop, is convinced. Barack
Obama may have a Kenyan father, but the first lady's roots bear the
scars, stresses and emotional weight of Ghana, which became the
first sub-Saharan African nation to gain independence in
1957.
DJMS - Commentary: Well,
considering that B.H. Obama's ancestry goes back to being slave
owners, I guess Mr. and Mrs. Obama, have a lot to talk about.
--Obama's father's father, was Arab and was in Africa, for one
reason only.

Commentary: I
believe that ALL children of those holding office should be
unofficially off limits. We cannot make it law, but it should go
without saying; leave the kids alone, ALL of them!
