101 Bill Clinton's Comment Didn't Sound Racist To
Me January 13,
2010
I
don't believe that it was racism, when Bill Clinton said of
Obama to Ted Kennedy, during the presidential primaries, "a few
years ago, this guy would have been getting us our
coffee."
Notice that, unlike Senator Reid, Clinton is not
stepping forward to apologize. But, he is not stepping forward to
tell what he meant, either.
Personally, I believe that they
will not let Clinton say what he really meant by the comment. You
see a racial comment always reflects onto the person who says
it. But a comment about a person's "experience," could, and in this
case would reflect on the person spoken of.
A racist comment,
would have been, "a few years ago, this guy would have been 'shining
our shoes.'" That reflects race. However, 'getting us our coffee,"
reflects a person who has not made it up the corporate ladder
yet. --Clinton was speaking of Obama's lack of
experience. |
